It was a sunny sunday morning, my father decided that we are going to visit FIRST AGRO FARM in Talakadu, Mysuru District. My father wanted to spend some time with me and my little brother Dhiw. We were too willing and happy to spend time with him. My brother and me were looking forward for the farm visit since many days. But due to busy schedule of my father, we could leave by 4 pm and reached the farm. To our surprise, it was such a wonderful visit and a good learning experience.

We were welcomed by Nameet uncle, an ex-army officer. Such a talented person! He gave me lots of fist bumps. I felt very nice interacting with him. We entered his farm and were surprised to see the very rare varieties of trees namely Laxman tree, Ramphal and also a Japanese tree planted by the Japanese Ambassador and its flower that was blossomed even in our Indian weather. Being 10-year-old, I never came across all these, and was very inquisitive about it. Then he took us to the actual farm. We could see lots of small vegetable tunnels. Different varieties of exotic veggies were planted. And that too with Zero Pesticide usage.

He believed in nature’s beneficial insects and microbes/bacteria, which helps to maintain soils micro-environment and land fertility. In present times ZERO PESTICIDE is very revolutionary. He was so specific that he mentioned it is not Organic. I was so delighted to see Oregano, Thyme, Parsley, Kale,Celery, Cherry tomatoes, and other exotic veggies. Oh My God! so many varieties of Cherry tomatoes. and my mommy was so happy that I ate first Tomato of my life right of the plant and that too with No pesticide! Not only this, I tasted chilli too. My younger brother inspired me too, as he being small, he first ate chilli along with my father.

During our interaction he mentioned that Black colour doesn’t exist. I found very weird to hear that. Then Uncle took us to his food tech lab. Yet surprising event of our visit to arrive now. Kumari aunty was so sweet to satisfy our taste buds with varieties of soft drinks. We tasted different pickles, mouth fresheners, syrups and honey. And most interesting part for me to have the different fragrances as well. Then we went to most important part of his lab, which is a Packing Unit. Sakura Fresh Brand indeed maintaining freshness of its all products.

Of course, after visiting the whole farm, seeing his food tech unit we were bound to be hungry. Uncle took us for the snacks and in spite of being spicy we enjoyed his garden veggies. Then we left with wonderful memories captured in a photograph and my father as usual gave me a task of writing an essay about this visit and Nameet uncle promised me to publish it in a journal.
